Beneath the surface of every individual is an inherent skill which may remain untapped. Students in academic institutions are sometimes caught between orthodox matter and industry oriented matter. In the process they fail to grasp the fundamentals, and they lose their ability and confidence to learn by exploring. Once that is lost, the scientist in them is also lost. Zakariahs Mathew has no regrets over dropping out of school because he believes it opened the door to free his unique talent and his innovative spirit. It set him on a path of discovery of Machines. This belief, and his phenomenal achievements since then, was appreciated by none other than one of the most eminent scholars India has produced. In May 2008, a 10-minute appointment with Dr.A.P.Abdul Kalam, former President of India, extended to one full hour, at the end of which a fascinated Dr. Kalamobserved,
“Mr. Mathew, its not just your engineering mind, you are a Scientist. May you live a hundred years!”
Over the years, Zakariahs Mathew was invited to join Committees and Technical Boards of various multinational companies. He was appointed Adjunct Professor & Chief Technology Officer in the Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirapally, Kerala. Accolades he earned for outstanding contribution in the field of Machinery Design include the Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award, the National Excellence Award and the Rashtriya Ekta Award.
